Vegas Life By: Carson

When we were in Vegas, I thought it was pretty cool that we were strolling around in a bunch of casinos. People were like, "Whaaaat"? My personal favorite casino was Caesar's Palace. It had hundreds of stores and a Rome-themed show. I loved the Nike store. It was two stories high and had tons of shoes! It was paradise to me so I spent at least an hour in it a day. The night we arrived in Las Vegas, we went to a fountain show. The water sprayed about 30 feet in the air and was all lit up! We tried to catch the Rome show for Chase, but got there at the very end of it. We were all disappointed, but as soon as I saw the Nike store, which happened to be right next to it, I was slowly attracted to it. We had loads of fun in Vegas but finally, the time had come to leave. But not before stopping at In and Out one last time ( ; .

Casinos Ice Cream and Shows Oh My! By Chase

When we went to Vegas I only had one word to say. WOW!! There were casinos around every corner and cool shops on every street. Too bad it was pretty hot. When we went to the Hershey, Reeses and m&m 's store me and Carson wanted to buy every thing!! I got a blanket from the m&m's store while Carson got a snow globe. We went to see a show in a casino and we got lost it was so big!! The first day I was really tired so we didn't get to do much. We did get ice cream at a GORgeous place called Serendipity 3.

Grand Canyon

The GRAND Canyon!  Oh is it grand!  There are so many words to describe the feeling you get when you are standing at the top looking out over it.  Some that stuck with me were vast, indescribable, feelings of awe, and left me feeling oh so small.  I think I mentioned in another place, but the pictures you see cannot capture its beauty.  The pictures do not allow you to see the depth of this great canyon.
We spent 2 days exploring it.  Different view points, different angles.  We even took a hike down into the canyon to get a better perspective.  My legs felt like rubber as we descended down into it and then looked up!  It blows my mind that there is such beauty!  I will post some pictures, but remember they do not do it justice.  If you ever have the chance go see for yourself this amazing wonder!
As you can see from all the pictures the weather was beautiful both days we were there.  Perfect hiking weather.  It got a little toasty when we hiked down in the canyon and then had to climb back up!

Admiring the beauty

Almost lost him :)

We managed to save this one too!

Having fun!

Cadillacs, Crosses and Canyons!

We have had a busy couple of days!  We had fun stopping at a few famous stops on Highway 66.  We stopped in Texas at one of the biggest crosses in the world.  It was 19 stories high.  Of course it was to be expected right?  Everything in Texas is big!  And it is!  From rest stops to crosses to just about everything!
Our next stop in Texas was Cadillac ranch.  It is literally a bunch of cadillacs stuck in the ground out in a field!  Some artists from San Francisco put them there.  The idea is to stop and spray paint your name on one of the cars.  Unfortunately because of so much rain and flooding we could not get right up to the cars without wading in some nasty water.  We got a few shots from a distance and chose to spray paint our names in the ground near the cars!

We found a cute diner in Alburquerque, NM  Route 66 diner.  Average food, but really cute atmosphere!

On our way to Grand Canyon we hit the Petrified forest.  If you have never been here I highly recommend!  Painted dessert was awesome!

I think I am going to save Grand Canyon for the next post as it deserves its very own!  Stay tuned!!

Off to a good start

We are on day 3 and doing great!  Not much to report yet as we have been doing a lot of driving.  Our first day we drove 15 hours!!  Needless to say we were ready to pull over and sleep that night.  We pulled off at a Walmart of all places!  Next morning we continued on to Oklahoma City and spent the afternoon at a Science museum,  The weather was cool and rainy so we couldn't do much outside. Lots of flooding in Oklahoma and Texas happening, but thankful it is not affecting us.  Another big travel day today with some plans to stop at some Route 66 classics!

Passing by the Arch in St. Louis

                                                          Yes, we really did :)

More Summer adventures

We had such a busy summer, but it was so good.  A first for Carson this summer was attending camp - OVERNIGHT!!!  I was nervous about sending him, but he did great.  This was the first time that Carson was away for a week besides staying with his Grammy and Pappy.  He went with several friends from church and came back tired, stinky and very happy!

Leaving for camp

Camp buddies!!

Another exciting thing for Carson this summer was getting his braces off!!  Watch out girls!  Look at that smile!!

Chase also had a busy summer.  While Carson was at camp, Chase attended Franke Park day camp.  This was his second year and he loved it!  They spent a lot of time in the woods and getting DIRTY!!  What boy wouldn't love that :)

Most days he came home looking like this!

Chase requested a LEGO birthday party so I threw myself into it and found all kinds of neat things.  While most of the ideas were awesome, I found myself wondering about a few when I was still working on LEGO cookies the night before at 2 a.m.  The party was a huge hit.  Most of his friends said they were going to have a LEGO birthday party so I must have done all right!  In fact Chase brought an invitation home today for a LEGO birthday party for one of his friends that attended our party!!
